GIVING BACK: A leisure provider in Congleton has donated hundreds of toys and sports equipment for local families this Christmas.

Everybody Sport and Recreation which run the under-reconstruction Congleton Leisure Centre on Worrall Street, donated the gifts to a good cause in Congleton.

On Thursday December 9, they donated over 200 toys and sports equipment for families in need, to be processed by the New Life Church in Congleton.

Toys and sports goodies donated to the West Road place of worship will be distributed to Congleton households with their food bank hampers.

As well as helping out in our town, they also did the same in Crewe.

As well as this, Everybody Sport and Recreation donated 100 selection boxes for New Life to also include in the hampers.

Joanna at the New Life Church in Congleton was delighted with their generosity.

"This year we are aiming for 390 hampers, 500 bags of joy and 701 gifts, she said.

"So this big, lovely donation today that we have had of these absolutely fantastic toys and sports equipment will go a long way to making a lot of children very happy this Christmas, thank you."

Additionally, Everybody have donated a bag of balls and a bag of toys to The angels, who are doing a 'Christmas Hope' campaign, providing presents to children who will otherwise go without this Christmas.

The toys will be put alongside what other schools and people have donated and a team of volunteers, who are helping children in need, have given parents a sack of presents to wrap for their children.

AndyBee, one of the Volunteer's at The angels shared: "Knowing these children will have a smile on their face on Christmas morning makes all the effort worth it. Children are what Christmas is all about."

Peter Hartwell, Chief Executive at Everybody Sport and Recreation commented: "We are delighted we have been able to support the New Life Church, The angels and the Annual Toy appeal to provide families in need with these toys and sports equipment.

"We hope children and families enjoy the toys and have lots of fun playing with them together.

"It is extremely important to Everybody Sport and Recreation to do this, giving back to the community is something they strive to do all year, but to donate toys and gifts to children at Christmas is the first thing on their list.
