The Bulls Head will be hosting a live auction and raffle this Sunday (November 21) to raise money for East Cheshire Hospice.

Eli Feny, landlady at The Bulls Head, is co-hosting the event with close friend Kirstin Thorpe.

The auction and raffle are set to take place from 7pm this weekend. Eli explained some of the lots on offer:

"We've got over a hundred prizes up for raffle and auction, including hampers from Morrisons, a Christmas tree, wreaths, chocolate hampers, a Congleton bed shop have just donated a prize."

"There's a huge TV for auction, a sixty-minute plane ride for four people, which I'm donating myself, she added.

A lot of the prizes have been donated by local businesses based in and around Congleton. Raffle tickets can be bought ahead of Sunday directly from The Bulls Head, or on the night for £1 per strip.

"We've got jigsaws, clothes from the men's clothes shop, gifts from Serenity, Glamorous, K-9 Raw pet food, Love 2 Shop vouchers, Greggs vouchers, Edge hairdressers, two 20-pound vouchers from Susie hairdressers, 3 vouchers at £90 from a studio in Stockport," Eli added.

East Cheshire Hospice, based in Macclesfield, offers free end of life care to people who need it and look after people suffering from life-limiting illness.

They provide care not just for people who are ill, but also offer free services to any carers or family members that might need support.

After learning her mum, Susan Thorpe, was terminally ill, Kirstin decided to set up the fundraiser to give back to the Hospice.

"My mum has been to the East Cheshire Hospice, and they gave her a blood transfusion there when the hospital wouldn't," she explained.

"When I took her, they took us all around to have a look. They don't just do end of life care, you can go and take them in for respite, for two weeks throughout the year."

"They don't just stop there, she can go on a Thursday and have a massage and dinner, she stays from 10am-4pm."

"That's not all they do, they offer it for your family as well, so I could go in and have a massage or my nails done. They also do things for bereavement for children."

"So, they do a whole range of things, to help support not only people who are terminally ill but, you know the families as well and I think that's really important because we look after my mum at home"

The Hospice needs to raise £7,500 per day to cover running costs. With limited funding from the government, they rely on volunteers and fundraising events to remain open.

Luke Brightmore, Marketing Manager, for East Cheshire Hospice added: "East Cheshire Hospice would like to thank customers and staff at the Bulls Head for their generous support.

"It costs £7,500 a day to run the Hospice so we can provide care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, their families, and carers, free of charge."

"Your help is greatly appreciated, and we wish you all a merry Christmas."

There will be a special guest feature hosting the auction on the day.

The son of Cheshire auctioneer Adam Partridge will be hosting the auction.

Many will know Partridge senior for his appearances on the telly, and his son Ridley will hope to follow in his dad's footsteps, as Adam passes the hammer down for this Congleton charity auction.

After losing her mum to cancer, Eli Feny decided to co-host the event at her pub located on Mill Street, with the cause being close to her heart, she plans to run the event annually.

"I lost my mum to cancer; she was at a Hospice and me and my family did the Snowdon walk to raise money that way, but my mum passed away the morning of the walk," Eli said.

"So, when I heard what Kirstin was doing, I approached her and said I wanted to get on board with it, and we've just been working together since.

"I really hope on the day people come down and see the atmosphere and speak to people that might be dealing with illness.

"We just want to raise as much money for the Hospice and get as many people as possible in the community involved" added Eli.

Head over to The Bulls Head this Sunday to be in with a chance of winning one of the many prizes on offer and to help raise money for a local charity.

They are also planning a Christmas Market running from December 3rd to Sunday 5th December. Where there will be live carol singer, a band, and an appearance from Santa.
