Klezmer-ish
Clonter Opera Theatre, Swettenham Heath, Congleton, CW12 2LR
Music
UNTIL Saturday 18th March
"This homemade stew is a spicy artisan product with not a trace of artificial additives" - The Times
"Music that you want to dance to, then in the middle you go and break our hearts a little bit!" - Jenny Lee Summers, BBC Radio
Clonter is delighted to welcome Klezmer-ish for the first time, grateful to this introduction from the Former Holmes Chapel Music Society, after they played in a Manchester Mid-day Concert at the Bridgewater Hall in 2019, where the audience member was 'blown away'. They had been subsequently booked to play for the Holmes Chapel Music Society the following season, but unfortunately they had to be cancelled due to Covid, and it wasn't possible to find a new date for them in the final Holmes Chapel season here at Clonter in 2021-22, but here they are now!
Klezmer-ish are four incredibly outward-looking classically trained musicians who met whilst playing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. From rip-roaring klezmer and dynamic tango to their self-penned gypsy jazz, Klezmer-ish bring a trademark twist to whatever genre takes their fancy. Drawing inspiration from the music of bygone travellers, Klezmer-ish take their audience on a seamless musical journey, always on the move.
