Congleton MP Fiona Bruce has claimed it would have been "premature" for the House of Commons to implement recommendations from the first phase of the Grenfell Inquiry into the Fire Safety Bill, due to the Government's Fire Safety consultation not closing until next month.

The proposed Labour amendment was rejected by 318 votes to 188, with Mrs Bruce one of the MPs to reject the proposal.
