Cheshire East Council, with the help of schools, colleges, early years settings and other family support services across the borough are distributing vouchers worth £880,000 on behalf of the Department of Work and Pensions.

They will go to the most vulnerable children and families to pay for essentials such as food and energy during the winter months.

Christmas hampers at The Vale Club

Over 350 vulnerable residents in Congleton will be receiving a Christmas hamper surprise after the community rallied together to showcase their festive spirit.

The project has been organised by Deborah Jupp, who runs the social media group called Congleton chat's Back, alongside other administrators (Michelle Goodwin, Carole Whitehurst, Beckie Birdno and Gaynor Munro) and Shaun Radcliffe, lead volunteer of the Congleton Food Hub, who has been delivering essential items throughout the Congleton community to the vulnerable throughout the pandemic.

Congleton Town Council's White Ribbon group will be in the town centre this Saturday from 10am to 2pm hosting a stall as part of the council's work to eradicate violence and abuse from Congleton.

The group had originally intended to be at the Makers Market at the end of November to spread the important messages about not committing, excusing or remaining silent about abuse and violence, and also where to go to help those you may know or suspect could do with support on this issue.

Shoppers coming to Congleton this weekend can once again take advantage of free parking 10am on Saturday 12th December in three of the town's main car parks.

There will be no charge when parking in the Fairground car park by Congleton Library, Back Park Street car park behind Lawton Street or Princess Street car park near the market, although be aware that the three hour limit for the short-term Fairground car park remains.
