Congleton Town FC will pay tribute to a lifelong fan.

The Bears announced the passing of Dennis Rowley on Thursday, September 11.

Ahead of Saturday's match, the club will be holding a minute's silence to pay respects to the 'supporter of the year forever'.

A social media post from Congleton Town read: "It's with profound sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our cherished, lifelong Bears supporter, Dennis Rowley.

"Dennis, your infectious mischief and boundless spirit lit up our lives, leaving behind a treasure trove of joyful memories that will forever bring tears and smiles.

"Your laughter echoed through our hearts, and your love for the Bears bound us all together.

"You'll remain forever etched in our souls, a guiding light in our fondest memories.

"Once a Bear, always a Bear."

Congleton welcome Chorley FC to the Cleric Stadium on Saturday (September 13).

Kicking off at 3pm, Richard Duffy's side will be hoping to progress to the third round of qualifying of the FA Cup.

Fans are asked to bring along old-school wooden rattles and make as much noise as possible during the minute-long tribute to Dennis.
