Congleton Town cap number of visiting Bury fans as Bears prioritise safety over profit

Congleton Town have capped the number of away fans for an upcoming fixture.
The Bears will welcome former Football League mainstays, Bury FC, to the Cleric Stadium next Saturday, August 23.
Despite the ground holding 1,450 and last year's average attendance being around half of that, Congleton have allocated Bury just 300 tickets.
The club say this has been done to maximise 'comfort and safety'.
A statement released on Thursday, August 14, read: "Here at Congleton Town, our priority is creating a safe, enjoyable, and stress-free match day experience for all fans.
"While some may see limiting Bury to 300 tickets as a missed opportunity for extra revenue, we believe safety and enjoyment are worth far more than additional income.
"By carefully managing ticket allocations, we ensure a spacious and secure environment where everyone can fully immerse themselves in the match day atmosphere.
"Our focus is on delivering a fantastic experience for every supporter who walks through our gates, not on maximizing profit at the expense of comfort and safety.
"We can't wait to welcome you all for an unforgettable game day!"

Bury were expelled from the Football League in 2019 due to financial difficulties.
A phoenix club, Bury AFC, was then formed by fans and began competing in non-league football while the original Bury FC continued as a fan-led business entity.
In 2023, the two clubs agreed to merge, with over 90% of fans voting in favour of the move.
Last season, the Shakers won the Premier Division of the North West Counties League to earn promotion to the Northern Premier League West Division.
They won their first game of the campaign 1-0 at home to Newcastle Town.
Congleton meanwhile fell to a 3-1 defeat away at Sporting Khalsa.
