The leader of Cheshire East Council has criticised the government's lack of communication over the implementation of local lockdown restrictions announced yesterday (Monday).

Cllr Sam Corcoran said he first heard that the borough would go into the 'high' tier of restrictions through the media and only received official confirmation 20 minutes before the Prime Minister's announcement in parliament.

Two Congleton organisations have been awarded over £415,000 between them as part of the government's £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF), administered by Arts Council England.

Congleton-based Circus Starr received the largest award for Cheshire East organisations with £317,551 and Clonter Farm Music Trust, based near Congleton, received £100,000.
