Twenty-eight vehicles were clocked speeding on a Congleton road in just one hour yesterday (Weds) afternoon.

Congleton West Police officers, armed with a hand-held speed gun, were on Macclesfield Road monitoring traffic after concerns from residents.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Twenty-eight vehicles were exceeding the 30mph limit in the space of one hour.

"The majority can expect a letter from us in the post and could face a fine or the option to attend a speed awareness course."
