The principal contractor for the Congleton Link Road project has issued a traffic management update.

Graham has said that "great progress" has been made with their works on Chelford Road, but due to "unforeseen circumstances" they will be continuing to impose a full closure of Chelford Road between the Black Firs Lane and Back Lane junctions.

Graham said the closure is "essential" to allow their final operations to re-align the existing carriageway across the new overbridge, including installation of new kerbs, round foundation works and surfacing of the complete carriageway.

The closure applies to both motorists and non-motorists. The work is now expected to be completed by 10th March.

A spokesperson for Graham said: "Thank you for your ongoing patience during the closure to enable these crucial works to be delivered, particularly the residents of Chelford Road."

There will be intermittent temporary traffic lights in place from 1st - 5th March between the hours of 7.30am and 5pm on Sandbach Road, Astbury, to enable traffic sign installation and final concrete works.
