Town council urges residents not to travel to Congleton Town Hall for Covid-19 vaccine as NHS is "inundated" with walk-in appointments

By Tom Avery 1st Feb 2021

Residents have now been urged to stay at home and not travel to the Congleton Town Hall because the NHS team has been "inundated" with walk-in vaccination appointments.

Congleton Town Council informed residents via social media this morning that if they were over 70, or clinically extremely vulnerable and registered with Lawton House, Meadowside, Readsmoor or Holmes Chapel doctors' surgeries, there was the opportunity to go to the Congleton Town Hall for a walk-in vaccination today from 9am to 3pm.

This was only available to residents in the top four priority groups.

However, following the post on social media, the NHS team at the town hall has been "inundated" with walk-in appointments.

The town council has now urged residents who have not already left for the town hall to stay at home because the queue and waiting time is "massive".

A Congleton Town Council spokesperson said: "Please do not set off, as you won't be seen. Apologies for any inconvenience, public safety is our priority.

"Thank you for your co-operation."
