As the UK heads for recession, Congleton Nub News is trying to do their bit to help, and raise the profile of good causes.

Research suggests charitable giving has declined from the beginning of last recession, down by 11% from 2007/08 in 2009/09.

And combined with the cost of living crisis, a similar drop could be expected this time around.

So here is three Congleton charitable causes you can support with your money right now.

Ukraine Van Dash

Utilising the efforts and resources of retired Congleton photographer Mike McCann, this fundraiser has been continual since the invasion of Ukraine began.

This rolling crowdfunder has seen multiple trips to the at-war Eastern European Country, raising £6,590 to get all sorts of aid to Ukraine.

The latest funds donated are being put towards Christmas presents, and you can donate here.

Charity Bike Ride

Congleton man Jeffrey Longshaw died last November suicide.

And this November, on Saturday 5, his family and friends will be fundraising at Astbury's Glebe Farm with a charity cycle.

A 29km cycle will take place to represent his age when he sadly passed. Everybody is welcome and those that don't want to cycle are more than welcome to cheer on.

£2152 of £2500 has been raised so for Movember who support mental health and suicide.

The bike ride will start and finish at Glebe farm, where there will be stalls and family fun too.

Donate here.

Incredibly, a further £1500 has been donated on GoFundMe crowdfunder.

Support A Congleton Cause

The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation distribute funds to those who need them across Congleton and the wider surrounding area.

And there is a raffle parents and kids of Congleton High School can enter and win thanks to the Box Lane School and Congleton good cause.

You can win half of all the money collected, which of course depends on how many people entered.

SImply write your child's name, form and your contact details on to an envelope, pop in a pound and send to Main Reception or Student Reception at Congleton High School by Friday 16th December.

The remaining 50 percent will go to The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation, set up by the family of the late Congleton High School student, Georgia, who tragically lost her life in June 2020.
