Throughout the lockdown, the Chappell Centre continued to provide "A Helping Hand" and responded to 17 requests for delivery of either prescriptions or shopping.

In July, they were busy making preparations to reopen. The centre, located off Leek Road, Mossley, reopened last Monday (3rd August) and is taking part in the 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme.

The Chappell Centre's opening hours are different for August. They are open Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm, last orders are at 2.30pm.

In August's edition of the Congleton Parish magazine, staff members at the centre gave an update to the community: "We decided that the more relaxed social distancing guidelines enabled a group of us to redecorate the lounge, and the transformation is impressive.

"Next, we needed to prepare risk assessments and review / refine all our processes to enable us to operate in an appropriately socially-distanced manner.

"Finally, we needed to source the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for our staff and volunteers.

"Please leave a message if your call is not answered, as we may have limited numbers of volunteers and be unable to answer the phone.

"However, we aim to return all calls promptly. We look forward to welcoming back all our customers as soon as you feel safe to venture out."

Customers can enjoy a menu of drinks, lunches, snacks and cakes. Call 01260 281601 to speak to a member of staff.
