Congleton Town Mayor is starting the year off on the right foot with a fun afternoon of dancing, afternoon tea and entertainment to raise funds for the town mayor's charities.

Congleton residents are invited to join the mayor at the quintessential event on Sunday 26 February in the Town Hall, as Strictly comes to Congleton.

For 2023, the traditional Mayor's ball has been replaced with the Strictly High Tea event, to make it more affordable for all.

The High Tea Dance will take place in the beautiful surroundings of the majestic Grand Hall from 2.30pm-5.30pm.

Tickets are on sale now from the Congleton Information Centre next to the Town Hall priced at £20 per person.

The ticket price includes a traditional afternoon tea consisting of sandwiches, cakes, pastries, scones and freshly brewed tea or coffee. The Strictly Come Dancing will be hosted by talented local duo Andrew & Jenny Bell of Love to Dance.

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Margaret Gartside said: "Get ready for a lovely afternoon filled with fun, food, and friends. Don your favourite high tea attire and join me to raise funds for Congleton based charities. Everybody is invited, however tickets are limited to 100 so don't miss out! There will be a charity raffle with fantastic prizes up for grabs. Don't worry if you have two left feet, the dancing is optional! Enjoy modern and traditional sequence dances with the amazing Andrew Bell. It promises to be a truly special event, I hope as many people as possible can join me to support the fund raiser."

Rather than picking just one or two charities, the west Congleton councillor pledged back in May to "help as many local Congleton-based charities as possible during my year as Mayor."

Tickets are available from the Congleton Information Centre inside the Town Hall.

Call into reception or tel: 01260 270350 (ext. 1) or email: [email protected].

The full amount raised for local charities will be revealed at the end of the Mayor's tenure from May 2023.
