Rotary-Congleton president, Stew Price is in training for the Rotary Bikeathon with his team of Rustic Rotarians.

Stew got home first for our photograph, with the rest of the team following on behind.

Apart from the Rustic Rotarians team, avid cyclist Stew rides regularly with the U3A group. They have also set a target of a 30-mile ride for the charity, sharing the sponsorship money they raise with the North West Air Ambulance.

On Saturday, June 26th, a team of 'Rustic Rotarians' will be riding their exercise bikes to raise money for their own good causes.

They will be riding and collecting money in Congleton Town Centre from 10.30am until 2.30pm.

During the event, they will be hoping to raise support from the generosity of shoppers in the town.

Another Rotary team will ride outside Tesco on Barn Road and will be supported by staff from the store.

Like many service organisations, Rotary has struggled to raise money during the lockdown.

Rotarian event organiser, Eric Westwood said: "This is an opportunity to start to fill the empty coffers so that we are again able to help deserving causes in our community.

"The 'Rustic Rotarians' team will be leading the event from the front."

Rotary hopes that teams from the community will join in and support them by riding their own bikes or even their exercise bikes over the weekend and help by raising their own sponsorship.

Full details, including how to enter a team and support the event are on a special website.
