A cake shed has been burnt to the ground.

Police have launched an investigation after La Petite Frog Cake Shed on Back Lane in Eaton was destroyed by a fire on Sunday, August 9.

Owner Kaye Harrison says it has left the local community 'devastated'.

She said: "I had been inspired to create a cake shed after living in Anglesey and wanted to bring that home to my community.

"My love of food and baking is my passion and my vision was to bring smiles on peoples faces through cake.

"Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed popping by and buying there goodies and the community is devastated at the loss of the shed and what happened to it yesterday."

Kaye added:" "What goes on in someone's mind to want to burn a cake shed down which has been offering bakes in a rural community? I seriously don't know!

"It's not even the financial loss that upsets me, it's my heart and soul that I always put into my work.

"I have had Freddy Frog for eight years who has been on this creative journey with me and he was burnt with everything else which I can't replace."

The incident has been reported to Cheshire Police, with enquiries now underway.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 3.30pm on Sunday, August 9, police received reports of criminal damage relating to a cake shed which had been set on fire.

"It is believed to have happened at some time between 5pm on Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9.

"Enquiries remain ongoing."

La Petite Frog's other cake shed, on Church Lane in North Rode, remains open as usual.
