Police confirm fatality after emergency services called to Congleton station

Police have confirmed a person has died following an incident at Congleton railway station.
British Transport Police were called to the scene at around 7pm on Wednesday, January 22, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Officers were joined by crews from North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Congleton railway station at around 7pm yesterday (January 22) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
The incident at Congleton resulted in major disruption to trains travelling between Stoke on Trent and Macclesfield.
Services resumed shortly after 10pm.
