A three-year-old who has been delivering baked treats in his little car to neighbours during lockdown has raised over £300 for NHS charities.

Local sensation Oscar Perry, of Waggs Road, Congleton, has been helping mum Angela bake fairy cakes, shortbread biscuits and cookies for the last four weeks.

After taking orders in Oscar's diary or via phone calls, the pair get to work and then Oscar steps on the gas each Friday to deliver the homemade cakes to nearby households on Waggs Road.

However, after he featured on BBC North West Tonight on Friday, Oscar and his mum delivered further goodies to the Congleton area yesterday (Sunday) due to the response they received from his TV appearance.

Angela told Nub News: "He really enjoys baking and he was going out getting his daily exercise in his car waving at neighbours, so we thought it would be a nice gesture to incorporate the baking service with that."

Before he appeared on the news, Oscar had raised £90, but since then due to the "overwhelming" response and people asking how they can donate, Angela set up a JustGiving page, which has already raised £295.

Angela said that her son was "very happy and giddy" to see himself on the news and was "beaming and staring" at the camera.

She added: "He was telling me, his dad and my mum to sit down because he was going to be on the news."

Oscar charges £2 for six iced fairy cakes, £2 for six oat cookies and £1.50 for six shortbread biscuits.

His mum added: "The route usually takes him an hour to do, he leaves the cakes and biscuits on the doorstep with a little bucket for the money, he always makes sure he steps back and keeps a distance when residents open the door.

"He's already built up a clientele of regular customers and the last house on the delivery route has started giving him an ice lolly."
