Work has started this week on a £320,000 investment to refurbish Congleton station's footbridge.

Great North Rail are carrying out repairs to restore the appearance and ensure it remains safe and reliable for passengers and railway staff. Improvements are expected to finish in early October.

The footbridge will be closed for the duration of the work and signage will be in place to direct passengers via Park Lane to get to either side of the station.

Parking will still be available on both sides of the railway.

Network Rail's work compound will be located in the station car park next to the ticket office and this will feature a generator, lights and welfare units, as well as being used for storage of materials.
