Motorists urged to avoid the area amid 'police incident' on main road

A main road is shut due to a police incident.

Officers in Congleton have warned that the A536 Congleton Bypass is currently closed in both directions.

The closure is in place between the A54 at Somerford and the A34 Manchester Road.

This comes amid a 'police incident'.

Diversions are in place and police have advised motorists to avoid the area for the time being.

Emergency services have been contacted for further information.
