The Mayor of Congleton's Spring Charity Ball raised thousands for local good causes.

Over 140 people filled the Town Hall on Friday, March 14, for an evening of celebration and fundraising.

The event brought together civic guests from across Congleton, including residents, businesses and community groups, all united in their support of the Mayor's three chosen charities – MyCWA, Ruby's, and Congleton Pride.

"My three charities all about equality and inclusion," said councillor Kay Wesley, Town Mayor of Congleton.

"In an ideal world, they wouldn't need to exist, but sadly, they are needed now more than ever.

"The work they do is truly life-changing, and I am so proud to support them.

"I want to thank everyone here tonight for their generosity in helping these fantastic causes - it really will make a difference."

The evening began with a rousing 'Oyez, Oyez Oyez!' from Town Crier, Vicky Pulman, who served as the compere.

Guests stood to welcome distinguished attendees, including four mayors from neighbouring towns and MP Sarah Russell.

The proceedings were formally opened with Mayor's Cadet Barney Mitcheson leading the grace, followed by the loyal toast proposed by David McGifford, Chief Officer of the Town Council.

Guests were then treated to a three-course meal prepared by Mark Bailey and his team at Mark's Events.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the charity auction, where five exclusive prizes sparked a flurry of competitive bidding.

This, alongside a raffle featuring 17 prizes, brought night's fundraising efforts to £2,884.

Speaking at the event, councillor Suzy Firkin praised the Mayor's 'hard work, compassion, and unwavering commitment to equality and justice'.

"Kay has been a mayor who leads by example, an ambassador for community spirit, and a true champion for those in need," she said.

"Her dedication and passion have made a real impact, and for that, we owe her our deepest thanks."

With fundraising in full swing and spirits high, guests took to the dance floor as The Sound Party provided an evening of live entertainment.

The final total raised, including all donations and contributions, will be announced once everything has been tallied up.

"The town council would like to thank all who attended, donated, and supported the event," said a council spokesperson.

"The kindness and generosity of everyone involved will have a lasting impact on these vital local charities."
