A Macclesfield man has been accused of assault following a crash near Astbury.

A large emergency service presence was called to Mow Lane in the early hours of Friday morning (August 1) following reports of a man with a serious head injury.

He was subsequently taken to hospital and is understood to now be in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, officers from Staffordshire Police arrested Macclesfield resident Oliver Fury at the scene at around 1.45am.

The 42-year-old has been charged with assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, aggravated vehicle taking, use a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and fail to provide a specimen for analysis.

Fury appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Saturday (August 2) and is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court at a date to be fixed.
