A national clothing chain has announced the date of its permanent closure - after going into administration last December.

M&Co in Congleton has announced its last day of trading will be next Saturday (April 15th).

The nearby Sandbach store is closing its doors next Thursday (April 13th).

The privately-owned UK chain has blamed increasing costs and decreasing customer confidence for its downfall.

M&Co will be permanently closing all of its 170 stores around Easter - including the Congleton one as well.

An estimated 2,000 jobs will be lost from these closures.

M&Co failed to find a buyer for all of its physical stores - with the brand now owned by AK Retailer Holdings at auction (Google).

Some of the fixtures at the back of the Sandbach store have been taken down and clothing still available in the store has big markdowns.

In Congleton, a post on M & Co's Facebook page says the final days of trade day will be a week on Saturday (April 15th).

The post says: "I just want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have shopped with us over the past 29 yrs.

"We know this store is a huge part of the community and it will be greatly missed but so will you, our customers, our friends.

"Let's celebrate the time we have left, let's not be sad. Call in and grab yourself a last minute bargain.

"All our love from Jo, Wendy, Pam, Linda, Janice, Jess. & Freya. Girls that have also been with us since the start of all this administration and gone on to pastures new; Kerry, Jo, Marisha, Leah and Jill."

In nearby Nantwich, the store also issued a statement on social media - announcing its imminent closure.

The statement read: "M&Co Nantwich will close its doors for the final time on 11 April.

"We have just over a week left to trade to you all so please pop in and grab yourself one last bargain.

"We would like to thank you for your continued support during this period of uncertainty since December 9.

On Tuesday 4 April, M&Co Nantwich released a statement on social media - announcing its imminent closure (M&Co Nantwich).

"Thank you to those who have wished us well and shown us genuine concern."
