The Audley Male Voice Choir is performing a programme of popular and well-known songs at the Trinity Methodist Church on Wagg Street in the new year.

On Saturday 17 February the choir, full of local and international talent, will be putting on a show for the residents of Congleton.

The local choir, with its origins in mining and Methodism, has now earned an international reputation. It now performs a varied and largely traditional male voice choir repertoire. As well as making its own recordings it gives around 10 concerts a year including performing at the Victoria Hall in Stoke on Trent.

The choir's recently appointed musical director is Christopher Cromar, latterly Director of Music at St Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral in Aberdeen and boasting a career including working with BBC Singers and many other famous choirs. An accomplished organist, he has given recitals in Westminster Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral.

Accompanying the choir in February, Anna Chiu, born and raised in Hong Kong, obtained her Master of performance at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Tickets are priced at £10 and are available from Congleton Information Centre at the Town Hall - for what promises to be an evening to remember.

The concert will take place at Trinity Methodist Church, Wagg Street, Congleton at 7.30pm on 17 February 2024.
