Work has begun to repair a leaking pipe which is causing water supply issues in Congleton.

United Utilities are working to fix the problem on Lindale Close, Congleton, as soon as possible.

A United Utilities spokesperson said just before 6:30am this morning (Thursday) when the issue was reported: "A leak on Lindale Close affecting customers in CW12, has been spotted and reported to us. We've been out to investigate and found this to be the cause for some of you having no water or just a trickle.

"Our leakage engineers should be on site as soon as possible. We're sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have your taps flowing again very soon."

However, at 8:50am a United Utilities spokesperson added: "Our leakage engineers have been delayed getting to site to repair the leak on Lindale Close. We'll be on the way as soon as possible this morning."
