Latest figures show 148 crimes in Congleton in February

The latest crime figures released by police show there were 148 crimes in the Congleton area during February 2021.

The total came from combining the Congleton West area which covers the town centre, West Heath and Lower Heath, and the Congleton East area, which covers Buglawton, Hightown, Mossley and Timbersbrook.

Congleton West - 75 crimes

These figures compare to 107 crimes the previous month and 120 in February 2020.

From the 75 recorded incidents, these included 23 violence and sexual offences, 26 incidents of anti-social behaviour, five public order, five shoplifting, five criminal damage and arson incidents alongside 11 listed as 'other crime'.

The 11 incidents listed as 'other crime' included:

- Vehicle crime: 4

- Other theft: 2

- Theft from person: 1

- Possession of weapons: 1

- Burglary: 1

- Drugs: 1

- Other crime: 1

Congleton East - 73 crimes

These figures compare to 88 crimes the previous month and 89 in February 2020.

From the 73 recorded incidents, these included 26 violence and sexual offences, 24 incidents of anti-social behaviour, six criminal damage and arson incidents alongside 17 listed as 'other crime'.

The 17 incidents listed as 'other crime' included:

- Theft: 4

- Burglary: 2

- Drugs: 4

- Shoplifting: 2

- Vehicle crime: 1

- Public order: 4

Crime figures for March 2021 have not yet been released.
