Families in Congleton are set to benefit from enhanced facilities and expanded support services.

After undergoing a major refurbishment, Congleton Family Hub reopened on Monday, September 21, complete with a new sensory room and improved outdoor play space.

The upgrades been designed to provide inclusive, engaging spaces that support children's development, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.

The additional space will also enable more activities, support sessions and partner-led services to be delivered from the hub.

Councillor Laura Crane, Cheshire East Council's cabinet member for children's services, said: "This is fantastic news for children, young people and families in Congleton.

"The improvements to the Family Hub, including the new sensory room and enhanced outdoor play space, will help create a welcoming place where families can learn, play and get the support they need.

"Family Hubs offer a wide range of services all in one place, from health and parenting support to activities for children and young people, SEND advice and opportunities to meet other local families.

"The extra space will allow even more support sessions, groups and activities to take place, making it easier for families to access help when they need it.

"I would encourage families to come along and see what is available. Whether you are looking for advice, support for your child's development, health services, or simply a chance to connect with other parents and carers, there is something for everyone.

"The Family Hub is here to support families at every stage, and we want as many people as possible to benefit from everything it has to offer."

Congleton is part of Cheshire East's network of six Family Hubs, which bring together council, health and community services to provide support for families with children and young people aged 0 to 19, and up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities.

The hub is home to a growing network of partners delivering family support, health services, speech and language support, physiotherapy, SEND advice, parenting support, youth provision and community-based activities.

Alongside partner services, families can also access core Family Hub support including midwifery appointments, health visitor clinics, breastfeeding and nutrition advice, Start for Life activities, mental health support and child development sessions.

The impact of this support is already being felt across the local community.

Between April 1, 2025, and March 31 of this year, 4,508 children, young people and families accessed support services across the Congleton and Holmes Chapel Family Hub catchment area, including those engaging through partner early years settings.

Almost one in five (19.3%) of those accessing support were from the area's most disadvantaged communities, demonstrating the hub's success in reaching families who may benefit most from early help and targeted support.
