Firefighters extinguished a hedgerow fire at a farm in Astbury.

One fire engine from Congleton was called to a farm in Oak Lane, Astbury, shortly before 3.30pm today (Tuesday).

Firefighters were notified of a fire involving around 40 metres of hedgerow.

The crew was at the scene for around one hour and 15 minutes.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The crew extinguished the fire with two hose reel jets.

"Firefighters, some of whom had beaters, then damped the area affected by the fire down to make it safe.

"A thermal imaging camera was used to look for hotspots."
