A popular country pub and restaurant near Congleton has been given the go-ahead to extend its car park.

The Brownlow Inn applied to Cheshire East Council to extend the existing car park on land off Brownlow Heath Lane.

Now it has been given the green light to carry out the work - following more than 200 positive comments supporting the application.

The pub has thanked customers and others who wrote into the council, supporting the application.

It said: "Thank you all so much for your support.

"We would have not received this positive outcome if it wasn't for all the letters of support that were submitted to Cheshire East Council. Thank you!"

The news comes after a similar application in 2021 was rejected by Cheshire East Council due to the impact it would have had on the open countryside.

The current approved application comprises of a fenced area of approximately 0.1 hectares of agricultural land, which has been sectioned off from a wider agricultural holding by posts and wire fencing, to the rear of the public house and its existing car park.

Approval also says no trees, shrubs or hedges within the site which was shown as being retained on the approved plans shall be felled, uprooted, wilfully damaged or destroyed, cut back in any way or removed without the prior written consent of the Local Planning Authority.
