Georgia Ogden's best friends would be left "speechless" if they were able to raise £5,000 for a charity that has supported them throughout their heart-breaking loss.

Georgia sadly passed away after the car she was travelling in crashed into an HGV on the A34 in Astbury in the early hours of 25th June.

After seeing a charity called 'Brake', which is a national road safety charity dedicated to preventing road death and injury and supporting those bereaved or injured in road crashes, 18-year-olds Becky Brady and Tom Hilditch, who are Georgia's best friends decided that they wanted to raise money for the charity.

Alongside Georgia's brother Josh Ogden (21) and his girlfriend Tanisha Orchard (22), Becky and Tom will be walking the 40-mile Lyke Wake Walk in Yorkshire on the 2nd October.

Becky and Tom told Nub News: "We have started doing some local walks, but neither us have any experience of doing any long walks or hikes. We will be completing Snowdon as part of our training.

"We googled Britain's hardest walks and Lyke Wake came up. After seeing what the charity Brake stands for and the support they have offered Georgia's family, they are amazing and we wanted to raise money for them.

"We are novices when it comes to walking, but we have set ourselves the target of completing the walk in 16 hours. There have been a lot of people jokingly saying that we haven't got a chance of completing the walk, but we will prove them wrong.

"We both would have been more comfortable doing a skydive or a bungee jump, we're more adrenaline junkies but with Georgia pushing us on, we will definitely complete the walk to raise money for such an unbelievable cause."

After launching a GoFundMe page only, a week ago with an initial £600 fundraising target, Becky and Tom have been blown away by the response from the community, which has seen £2,000 raised already.

The pair added: "We did not expect that much it's amazing. Within the first 24 hours of launching the fundraiser we had already raised around £1,500.

"It just goes to show the impact of losing Georgia has had on the town, she was so popular, and everyone loved her. She was one of a kind and this is definitely the least we could do for our gorgeous girl."

Becky and Tom said with just under two months until the walk that they would be "speechless" if they managed to raise £5,000 for Brake.

At the time of speaking to Becky and Tom, they told Nub News that both of them and Georgia should have been on holiday in Kavos.

They added: "Our flights hadn't been cancelled before Georgia had passed and she used to always say to us how much she was looking forward to it."

After putting flowers on Georgia's grave this morning, the loss of their best friend has made them both realise how short life can be and everything that they go on to achieve will be done representing and making memories for Georgia too.

Becky and Tom continued: "Georgia's family have told us that we need to go and live our lives and not have any regrets, because life can be so cruelly cut short."

When it comes to the 2nd October, Becky and Tom will be taking a big speaker and "blaring out" Georgia's favourite High School Musical tracks whilst wearing personalised t-shirts, which will include a picture of Georgia and the dates of when she was born and the day she died.

Tom concluded: "Lyke Wake Walk best be ready for us, because we will be noisy and we know Georgia will be looking down on us, willing us on."
