A community group has received a 'significant' cash injection.

The Bromley Farm Hub Group, based at Parnell Square in the Wellbeing Hub, has secured a National Lottery grant.

Among other things, this will fund new children's play equipment for the Stay and Play group, food and kitchen utensils for cookery classes, various gardening items for the Bromley Bloomers, and a new fitness group.

Chair of the Bromley Farm Hub Group, Congleton town councillor Susan Mead, said: "We are delighted the National Lottery Community Fund has recognised the value of what we are doing at Bromley Farm, and we look forward to investing further in the community with this grant.

"We have a fantastic team of volunteers who work hard to organise the events and activities for their neighbours, and some great partnerships with Plus Dane, the Council, Congleton Partnership, youth groups and local businesses. Many thanks to them all."

The Bromley Farm Hub Group was set up in October 2023.

In addition to the aforementioned activities, the Hub also has a Residents' Forum, working with housing providers on improving the local environment and housing.

There is also a women's mental health group called SheTalk, a domestic abuse peer support group run by myCWA, the Change-Grow-Live SMART programme to help people recovering from addiction, Pure Insight parent-and-child group for care leaver parents, and back-to-work skills development classes.

Usman Ashiq, strategic partnerships manager at Plus Dane Housing who own the Wellbeing Hub, said: "The Bromley Farm Hub Group has come together to make a real difference to the local community, and we are delighted to work with them and help where we can."

Plus Dane refurbished the Wellbeing Hub, which recently celebrated its 10th birthday, with new furniture and equipment and has provided funding and support for a summer Community Picnic and a Christmas Party for the past two years.

Councillor Kay Wesley, who chairs the Congleton Town Council Community Committee, is a volunteer at the Hub.

She said: "This is exactly the sort of local community group that makes Congleton a special place to live.

" It is great to see the Hub Group partnering well with many organisations to enhance life for everyone on Bromley Farm.

"Many thanks to all those who contribute, and I encourage other residents to come and join in, or volunteer if they like, with these fun, free activities.

"Congratulations to the team for securing this grant to help continue this important work."
