Father and son from Congleton to embark on 200-mile trek across Wales
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 6th May 2026
A father and son are embarking on a 200-mile trek across Wales.
Congleton resident Curtis Allwynn and his stepson, Leo, will take on the mammoth challenge this summer.
In doing so, they will be raising money for Cancer Research UK.
Curtis said: "Nearly everyone is affected by cancer at some point in life. I've had friends and family battle the big C.
"My father-in-law, in fact, has recently been told about a second diagnosis after thinking he got through it. Luckily, he's doing well and seems to be on the mend.
"I've always missed out on opportunities in life, either in or out of my control, and I regret a lot of things. But I hope that I can feel proud that I can make a difference in some way."
Curtis, 31, is a stepfather and carer to four boys, all of whom are on the autism spectrum and have ADHD.
He and his eldest son, Leo, will walk 100 miles from their home on Borough Road to a small bothy just outside Bethesda in Gwynedd, and back again.
"I've always liked going on walks and always wanted more of a challenge," Curtis added.
"I've previously walked Snowdon for DKMS and decided something more challenging would make life a little more interesting.
"Plus, it gets one of the boys out away from gaming and technology!"
