Driver seriously injured as car flies off road and crashes into tree

A driver was seriously injured in a crash near Congleton.
Emergency services were called to Rode Heath on Saturday (June 14) after a car came off the road and struck a tree.
The driver, a man in his 70s, was subsequently taken to hospital with his injuries described as 'serious'.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 3.23pm on Saturday police were called to a one vehicle collision in Rode Heath.
"A car left the road and went onto an embankment into a tree.
"The driver, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious.
"Anyone with information can contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 2110944."
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent two engines, one each from the Congleton and Crewe stations, to the scene on Street Lane.
"Crews attended a single-vehicle road traffic collision in which a car had left the road and gone down a steep embankment," said a CFRS spokesperson.
"Firefighters stabilised the vehicle and extricated one casualty, who was then handed into the care of paramedics."
