A dog walker has set up a group chat for women following two sexual assaults in the area.

Becca Hill, owner of Zoomie Doodles in Congleton, has decided to create a WhatsApp group for women of all ages.

This follows a 'suspicious incident' near Dane-in-Shaw Pastures last week and reports of a rape in nearby Knypersley on Monday, October 12.

Becca said: "I'm a dog walker so I spend most of my day alone walking.

"I've always deemed the areas I walk - the canal, the lines, Dane-in-Shaw - as safe places but due to the recent attacks it's made me realise that simply isn't the case!

"I had this overwhelming feeling of helplessness and wondered 'what can I do to stay safe and help keep others safe too?' So I started the WhatsApp group!

"I feel like at times like these, we are stronger together! Women supporting and looking after other women!"

The idea is for the WhatsApp group to only be used when you feel unsafe.

Anyone who sees something suspicious or something that makes them feel uncomfortable is able to message the group, so that fellow members can avoid the area.

If in more immediate danger, members can send their location into the chat so everyone knows where they are.

Fellow members will then be able to offer aid or call the police, should the situation require it.
