Crowds flock to Congleton as Easter Treats Day gets school holidays off to a flying start

The Easter holidays have got underway with a bang.
Congleton was bursting with colour today (April 8) thanks to the return of Easter Treats Day.
Families turned out in droves for the event, organised by Congleton Town Council.
Town Mayor, councillor Kay Wesley, said: "I'd like to say a big thank you to Congleton Town Council, our amazing volunteers, and everyone who helped make today's Easter Treats event such a fantastic success.
"The town centre was full of happy children enjoying crafts, circus fun, face painting, and learning about nature.
"It was lovely to see so many families out together making the most of the Easter holidays.
"With the town so busy, I'm sure our shops and cafés were just as pleased!
"And of course, the beautiful sunshine really helped make the day even more special."

A highlight of the town's events calendar, the day offered a jam-packed programme of free activities.
Nature lovers got stuck into seed planting with Congleton In Bloom, while the appearance of Billy the giant rabbit hopping around town delighted children and grown-ups alike.
Perhaps the star of the show was Halton Farm's Midnight the cow.
Her handler, Tommy, said: "She really enjoys trips out and meeting children!"

Adding to the Easter excitement, the 'Hop Around the Shops' trail is officially underway and runs until Saturday, April 19.
Families are invited to explore local shops, solve clues, and claim a free treat at the end, donated by Tesco, Barn Road and Morrisons.
Trail sheets can be accessed by scanning the QR code below, downloading them from the town council website, or picking up a free copy from the Congleton Information Centre.
