Congleton businesses can get a sponsor a lamppost for an advert which could be seen by thousands in the town.

Congleton Town Council are now inviting you to sponsor a part of Congleton history, as celebrations are finalised for the 750th anniversary of the town.

1272 was the first year Congleton got its first Charter and became a the market town we all know and love today.

In a statement, our town's smallest form of local government said:

"The Town Council is working with many community organisations on events and projects throughout the year so that everyone living and working in Congleton can be part of a year-long celebration of our town's history.

"Businesses will have the opportunity to become part of this by sponsoring a heraldic banner(s) that will be placed along Mountbatten Way and West Street roundabout area.

"The banners will be 2m long, double-sided and will hang from brackets on the lampposts."

It'll set you back just £250 quid for a flag, to immortalise your name in Congleton history. Please note, this number does not include additional VAT when the flags are set to be printed.

The banners will go up in early March, and remain there for the year.

Planning permission has been sought for 28 banners on Mountbatten Way and Market Street and a further 8 on West Street.

A business can even have two banners if they like. Sadly, we don't have anything in the Congleton Nub News kitty to spend on a banner, as we are a free service of news for our town!

If you want a banner, or are interested in one, you can download an application form here which can be emailed to the Town Council or posted to the Town Hall on High Street.

The Town Council will need a copy of your logo, company name and company logo and fill in the aforementioned form.

Congleton Town Council are organising 750 events for our town's big birthday year.
