From Monday, Congleton Town Hall will be a drop off hub for residents who wish to donate any food or essential items amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

Shaun Radcliffe, who has been delivering essential items to those self-isolating or vulnerable throughout Congleton had a meeting with Congleton Town Council today to confirm plans that they will be working together to help the community.

The town hall will be open 9am to 11am from Monday to Friday for the foreseeable future.

There will be a table by the information centre where people can drop off any items they wish to donate.

Hand sanitiser will be available and social distance measures will be in place.

Mr Radcliffe told Nub News that there would be four volunteers sorting through the bags and placing the items in different categories.

Mr Radcliffe said: "We don't want any more than four volunteers with social distancing being a big thing. We will be adhering to all the guidelines.

"All I ask is if anyone has got any free time between 9am to 11am to help out, it would be much appreciated. If there is more than four of us, we can interchange on a rota basis.

"We are all in this together, so as a town lets all stick together and help."

In the afternoons Mr Radcliffe and other volunteers will be delivering the items throughout the area in either vans or cars.

Mr Radcliffe plans to speak to all the supermarkets throughout the town to explain about the project and to see if they would be willing to donate any items to help the cause.

Mr Radcliffe stated that the town council will have an official website relating to the drop off hub launched on Monday and there will be a link for people to request items.

There will be no charge for any items.

Mr Radcliffe added for those that were isolating or vulnerable and wanted to donate, he would pick items up.
