All of Congleton's schools will close down on Friday 'until further notice'.

The country-wide school closures were announced by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson this afternoon as part of the Government's response to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The news comes as the total UK death toll rose to 104 today.

Teachers and parents have been putting pressure on the Government to close schools, as many are struggling to operate due to staff illness.

In this afternoon's Coronavirus update, Boris Johnson said that the decision to close down schools will potentially have less impact than other measures, such as advice to self isolate for up to 14 days if someone in your household displays Coronavirus symptoms.

All of Congleton's schools will close, except for the children of 'key workers' and children deemed to be 'vulnerable'.
