Congleton's witchcraft-themed cocktail bar announces impending closure

A witchcraft-themed venue in Congleton is set to shut its doors.
The Corner Cauldron Bar and Tearoom on Swan Bank has announced it will soon be closing for good.
Owner, Sam Matthews, says the decision is both a reflection of the challenges facing the hospitality industry but also a personal one, with the 36-year-old keen to broaden his horizons.
"This is by no means a representation of Congleton and its people," he posted on the venue's Facebook page.
"We have met some amazing people, even made some amazing friends which we still see in our personal time, one I have already told would definitely be my best man if I ever got married."
Sam continued, explaining that taxes on packaging, ever-rising energy bills and supplier costs have all played a part in the decision to close.
However, that doesn't tell the full story.
He said: "It would be easy to fully blame the current economy, but it's just simply not the case. It is partly, but as I'm getting older, my priorities have changed.
"We have been open for three years and a lot has happened in the last year on a personal level which has caused me to reflect and have a good think about what I want and how I wish to spend my life.
"I'm 37 in January I have not done seen much of my own country or the world and selfishly, I want too.
"I have things in my life, people who I care about and hobbies and projects that have been put on pause for three years, and it's time for that change to happen."

The Corner Cauldron, known for its mystical cocktails and Harry Potter tea parties, will sign off with a farewell party on Halloween night.
Sam added: "A huge thank you to all of our customers and the people of Congleton for making us feel so welcome and supporting our small, independent, business.
"We will continue as normal until October 31, so please come in, say hi and help us shift as much of this booze as possible!"
