Congleton residents have the chance to find out more about the planned highway changes for Padgbury Lane, at a public feedback session being held at the Quinta Primary School on Monday 2nd March from 6pm to 7.30pm.

The event has been organised by Congleton Town Council to give residents the chance to learn how Cheshire East Highways has adapted the proposed scheme for the road following the public consultation that was carried out between the 25th September and 27th October 2019.

There will be a chance to speak to councillors and officers from Congleton Town Council and to view the plans which are aimed at reducing speeds on the road ahead of the Link Road opening later this year.

The speed limit on Padgbury Lane was reduced to 30mph seven years ago, but the area still suffers from speeding motorists.

Traffic mitigation measures for the road were approved as part of the Link Road approval. Padgbury Lane forms part of the Abnormal Loads Route, so the proposed traffic calming measures have needed to accommodate this by having bollards that can temporarily be removed and using low or no kerbing.

Congleton Town Mayor, Councillor Sally Ann Holland said: "Cheshire East Highways gave a presentation to the Town Council about the plans for the road, and we thought it was important that the public also had a chance to have the changes explained to them.

"A full explanation is available on Cheshire East Council website, but sometimes it is easier to see the maps and talk through the plans.

"A number of Town Council Councillors and Officers agreed to make themselves available to explain the revised scheme generated by Cheshire East Council."

If you are interested in finding out about the scheme, please call into the Quinta School between 6pm and 7.30pm to view the display boards and ask questions. The display boards will be in the main hall, with entry via the side of the school to the door at the back.
