A Congleton-born folk musician is preserving English heritage through song.

Jackie Oates was born in Congleton in Cheshire in 1983, and has devoted her life to folk music.

The award-winning singer, violin and viola player is preserving historic songs in her latest project with the English Folk Dance & Song Society.

The educational resource, aimed at young primary school children, has centuries-old folk songs themed around nature and belonging.

"Very proud and excited to introduce my new EFDSS resource; 'Our Song'," Jackie said.

"I've been working with EFDSS to create a collection of 10 English Folk Songs for Early Years practitioners on the theme of belonging."

You can listen to the tracks here.
