Congleton motorists warned to expect a month of disruption as gas works get underway
Motorists have been warned of a month of potential disruption.
Congleton Town Council has confirmed that Cadent will be carrying out gas mains replacement works on Lawton Street and Bank Street.
The works will get underway on Monday, September 29, and culminate with a full closure of Lawton Street from October 18 to 27.
"Motorists should expect disruption throughout this period, with traffic management increasing in stages," reads a social media post from the town council.
The closure of Lawton Street will cover the stretch from the junction of Bank Street to the junction of Park Lane.
During this time, motorists are advised to follow an alternative route via Bank Street, Park Street, Kinsey Street, and Mountbatten Way.
A Cadent spokesperson said: "Here at Cadent, we look after the gas pipes in your area.
"We make sure the pipes that bring the gas to your home keep you safe, warm and connected.
"We're replacing the old pipes with new plastic ones which will mean that you'll be ready for greener gas in the future.
"We'll have to turn off your gas supply during some of our works and may need access to your home, but our teams on site will be on hand to let you know more information."
