Congleton Lions at their last club meeting conducted using Zoom were "very pleased" to welcome District Governor Barry Prior who joined them.

During the meeting, Mr Prior presented long service awards to four members of the club, their total service was 115 years.

The members were Lions Pat Wiltshier (15 years), Mark Thomas (25 years), John Isherwood (35 years) and David Morris (40 years).

Mr Prior thanked all on behalf of the organisation and everyone they have helped in the community.

All the years of service have been to the benefit of others mainly in the Congleton area.

Barry thanked the club for all the service activities that they have carried out and hoped that they all stay safe and carry on with their service work to the community in the future.

The club is planning next year's events in the hope that they will be able to take place.

Some of the events being planned are the annual Lions Youth Brass Brand Concert, now booked for Sunday 4 July at Congleton Park.

The popular Lions Duck Race will enter its tenth year being held.

At this time, Congleton Lions cannot give a date for the restart of the Diabetic Friends meetings, they are still acting as a focal point.

They will be presenting a number of Young Leaders in Service awards to local young people who have shown leadership qualities at this "very trying time".
