Congleton Link Road: Chelford Road could be closed several times over six-week period

By Tom Avery 7th Jan 2021

The principal contractor on the Congleton Link Road project has announced that from mid-January until the end of February, Chelford Road could be closed on several different occasions.

Contractors GRAHAM will be imposing closures of Chelford Road between the Black Firs Lane and Back Lane junctions.

The road closures will enable the realignment of the existing carriageway across the new overbridge and the diversion of essential utilities.

The initial closure will take place from Monday 18 January until Friday 22 January followed by further intermittent closures from 22 January until 26 February.

The works are subject to weather conditions and any changes in Government Covid-19 restrictions.

Daniel Cawthra, communications officer for GRAHAM, said: "We are aware of the effect traffic disruption has on our neighbours and the local community and will only be imposing the closures for as long as necessary."

A signed diversion route will be in place for the duration of the closures.
