This week, we head to a Congleton business that saw growth with the 'support local' movement brought upon by the pandemic.

Halton Farms, located four miles south west of Congleton town centre on Chance Hall Lane, are after a new Dairy Processing Assistant.

Due to expansion and increased workload they are looking for an Assistant to join their rapidly growing milk processing team.

This permanent position asks for full-time hours over five days a week, which includes weekends.

Duties include washing and preparing glass bottles, processing and bottling milk, cleaning all equipment after use and updating cleaning records recording the HACCP steps.

Other aspects fo the role include, face-to-face and telephone contact with customers, attending shows and events, and loading vans for deliveries.

Computer work mainly using Halton's own in-house programmes and additional work on Microsoft Office will also be conducted.

The salary for this Congleton job is dependent on experience, and the amount of training required.

Karen Halton, who has been a company director at the milk producers for nine years, had this to say about the vacancy to Congleton Nub News:

"We're a dairy farming business predominantly milking over 530 cows", said Karen.

"Between the dairy business, delivery and everything else we do, we employ sixteen people. We're looking for one more as Dairy Processing Assistant.

"We're a great place to work because we are really open-minded and progressive. We're always looking at new things and like to be ahead of the curve - not behind it.

"We have a great mixture of age groups, the youngest person being 16, and the oldest employee being 65 who has worked here for over 30 years. We have a lot of females who work on our farm as well.

"Everybody mucks in, gets on and gets the job done."

The farm located at CW12 4TL, champions the idea of milk tasting better out of a glass than plastic.

It is also better for the environment, as glass is easier to recycle than milk cartons, and uses no petrochemicals.

"We do look after our staff very well, like we do our animals," added Karen.

"We win lots of awards and have just come second in the Cheshire County Farms Competition, diversification class, which is related to this job."

"On a Wednesday we have a sports massage therapist for staff, which the company pays for [due to the physical nature of the job]. And we do staff breakfasts."

"We are open to considering non experienced and experienced candidates as full in-house training will be given and outside additional training will be paid for.

"Candidates need to be physically fit as there is heavy lifting involved, have excellent attention to detail, a Can do attitude, a willingness to muck in and get the job done, and a full clean driving licence.

"If somebody wants to progress in a career, or if somebody wants a career and is looking for one, this is a great opportunity."

Flexibility with hours is encouraged. Shifts start at 5am three days a week on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. But later starts on these, and other days are also available on a rotational basis.
