A healthcare assistant verbally abused by a group of teenagers also witnessed the adolescents make a mockery of the coronavirus outbreak by pretending to cough on residents at Congleton train station.

After his fourth twelve-hour shift of the week, Luke Spencer went to Congleton station on Friday night to get the train home to Macclesfield.

He arrived early for his 8:12pm train as his shift finished at 7:30pm.

Mr Spencer went and sat in the shelter at the station with his earphones in so he could listen to music.

Whilst waiting for his train, he witnessed a male around 16/17 years of age swearing at another passenger, with the teenager then sitting down near Mr Spencer in the shelter.

Two girls of a similar age proceeded to pretend to cough, which appeared to anger another male that was sat next to Luke.

The girls and another boy then came into the same shelter as Luke, swearing and still pretending to cough over the male, who was in his 30s.

Mr Spencer told Nub News: "The passengers waiting for the train were annoyed and some were frightened.

"To make a mockery of the coronavirus is absolutely disgusting.

"I was clearly in my uniform and I felt like I was being mocked and underappreciated."

Mr Spencer then stopped playing his music because he wanted to know what was happening.

According to Luke, one of the four teenagers said to her friends "Do you think he's gay?" (Referring to Mr Spencer).

They all then laughed at Mr Spencer and another replied "You think!"

The group then decided to start climbing on top of the shelter, at which point Luke left the station to make a phone call to a friend.

About five minutes later, he returned to the platform and began talking to a girl he went to college with, but whilst talking he could see on the other side of the platform the same four teenagers were standing close to the edge of the platform whilst trains were approaching.

According to Mr Spencer, they also appeared to be smoking cannabis. This was then followed by some of the teenagers throwing bottles of alcohol onto the car park, causing them to smash.

Mr Spencer tried to contact British Transport Police (BTP) on Twitter, but he didn't receive a response.

After contacting BTP, Nub News were told that there were no reports of any anti-social behaviour at Congleton station on Friday night.

Mr Spencer, who frequently uses Congleton station for his commute to work told Nub News that this was the first incident of any anti-social behaviour he had witnessed.
