Congleton Town Centre is 'Stepping into Christmas' with the 2020 Christmas themed window displays.

23 businesses entered this year's window dressing competition which was judged on 10th December.

After totalling the scores, joint first place prizes were awarded to; Willow Vintage & Gifts (Lawton Street) and Cancer Research UK (Bridge Street) - their windows scored the highest for their attention to detail in their displays.

Willow & Vintage Gifts sets the scene for a lovely snowy woodland themed window whilst Cancer Research showcased a Christmas Day setting, complete with full dinner service and food!

Second Place was awarded to Grace Brown Interiors for their sledge and sleigh theme and then joint third places were awarded to Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe and Bare Health.

The three judges; Cllr Chadwick, Cllr Firkin and Cllr Wesley independently judged the windows, all with similar high marks, due to the top quality of entries. The three judges were new to the competition and all enjoyed seeing the festive themed windows.

In addition to the top three places, Highly Commended certificates were awarded to the following: Butters John Bee, Chris Hamriding Lettings and Estate Agents, Clarity's Hair Design, Delia Metcalfe, Gather of Cheshire, Isabel's Fashion House, L. Thompson Optometrists, Sugar Plum Hair Salon, The Little Shop, Three Shires Independent Funeral Service, Wild & Wild. Commended was awarded to: Congleton Veterinary Centre, High Town Post Office, Leek United Building Society, Rogers Barber Shop, Shakeeze, Town Hall Studios and Walker's Strings.

Congleton Town Council Town Centre and Events Officer, Martha Hayes, said: "We would thank all the shops who took part in this fun competition. The festive windows, trees above the shops and the new Christmas lights have really helped to add a Christmas buzz to Congleton. It's great that so many people are supporting local shops and businesses this year."
