You can do good and feel good at Congleton's Astbury Mere Country Park this weekend.

People of all ages will meet and pick up rubbish to spruce up the park ahead of their busiest time of year.

The Congleton In Bloom group are leading the force for the Congleton Community Tidy on Saturday 2 April 2022.

The group are calling for volunteers to help make Astbury Mere Country Park cleaner and greener.

The tidy is part of the 'Great British Spring Clean' run by Keep Britain Tidy. Back for its seventh year the campaign takes place from 25 March – 10 April 2022.

Volunteers can do as little or as much as they want during this time, there will be a variety of activities which will include: tree planting, litter picking and weeding.

Those joining in are advised to wear clothing appropriate to anticipated weather conditions and sensible footwear.

Hi-Viz vests, litter pickers, sacks, gloves and all equipment will be provided.

You can volunteer for as long as you'd like. And remember, your efforts could help our town win a national award.

Congleton In Bloom Chair, Cllr David Brown said: "The In Bloom team look forward to welcoming new

and existing volunteers. "We have a busy year ahead as Congleton has been selected to represent the North West region in the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals in the Large Town category! "So we are trying to get as many members of the public to join in the monthly volunteer mornings as possible. Thank you. "Congleton In Bloom relies on community participation and the session will be a great way to do something positive, help to make a difference and meet new people at the same time." If you are interested in this event and would like further details, or would like to find out about more of

the events please visit the Congleton in Bloom Facebook page or contact Congleton Town Council via [email protected].

Just turn up from 10am to 12pm on the day to get involved. You can bring your own litter pickers if you so wish.

PS There is a chance of rain on Saturday, so bring your coats!
