A 15-year-old good Samaritan from Congleton has already raised over £700 to help buy PPE for NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic through a Just Giving page.

Callum Bloor set up the fundraising page after a resident posted on Facebook asking where they could make financial donations to help raise funds for frontline workers.

Callum, who has been helping at the Congleton Food Hub every day and delivering essential items to the vulnerable, elderly and key workers, wanted to give the community a platform to help financially if they wished.

After launching the page on Saturday, Callum's initial target was £200, but within 72 hours, he had already raised £600.

At the time of writing this article, Callum's current total is £778, and he is now targeting the £1,000 mark.

After talking with a Macclesfield Hospital nurse, Callum who was recently nominated as a BBC North West Tonight Everyday Hero, got a gauge of what equipment is desperately needed for our frontline workers.

The money raised will go towards equipment for staff and nurses at Macclesfield and Leighton Hospitals.

Callum is going to try and purchase the PPE himself by the end of next week, but if he is unable to acquire the equipment, he will pass on the total raised to the NHS.

Callum told Nub News: "I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far. If the generous Congleton community could kindly continue to donate and help these incredible frontline workers, who are fighting this deadly invisible disease, that would be much appreciated."
