The bear who put the bear into Beartown is returning in a new electronic book, and this time it's going to be a bit special.

The eBook will be free to download and will be used to promote Congleton, its shops, charities and businesses with free advertising inside the book.

The book will be entitled 'Cong Bear, The Bear Of Beartown' and will tell the adventures of Congleton's eco icon bear coming out of lockdown.

If you're a Congleton shop, charity or business and would like to be advertised in the free book you can go over to Facebook groups Congleton News and Views or Shop Congleton, where an "amazing" number of local businesses have asked to be included.

The cut off date to be included in the book is 18th September (Friday).

Four Cong Bear books were published in 2019. Co-creator and author Stuart Neild said. "We said last year we intended to put Congleton on the map with this character. Not only are we still trying to do that, but we're also helping the shops and businesses of the town to get out there with a little free advertising.

"And the fact that the eBook is free, will mean those shout outs to local business will be seen by many more people than if we were to make a hard copy of the book and charge for it."

Fellow co-creator and artist Sharon Neild said: "What better way to promote the little town with the big heart, than with Cong Bear, the big bear with the even bigger heart?"
